Other sailing boats

During 15 years I sailed almost exclusively in the boats of the YCPE, until 1979 when I bought my first sailing boat, a lightning named “Zeus”, which we found abandoned in the port of Colonia 180 km West from Montevideo. In 1982 I bought a Limbo 21 class designed by Andrew Stewart, named "Waialua"; in 1988 another Limbo 21, named "Pilgrim", in 1990 a kind of lightning, named "Loquito", designed by a Uruguayan naval arquithect (Mr. Favaro)

In 1994 I acquired an old motorcruiser built in 1916, named "Caiman II" and I sailed a lot with her in the Negro River in the middle of Uruguay; except "Loquito" all other vessels were sold, without gain, of course (on the contrary...)

In 1997 I purchased with a friend, Carlos Larralde, the best monohull in Uruguay: HALCYON, a 30' sloop designed and built by Eng. Bottini in Montevideo.

In 2000 I started to realize the virtues of the catamarans and I felt in love with them; accepting the challenge a friend built one for me in Brazil, my first polynesian catamaran, a Tiki 26, design of James Wharram. This vessel was launched in 2002 and she is currently our principal boat, moored in the port of Piriapolis.

In 2003 we built in Punta Colorada, near Piriapolis an outrigger canoe class Melanesia, also a design of Wharram, she was named "Tamata" in honour of the great Indo-chinese sailor Bernard Moitesssier-

In 2004 we started the Swaggie project, the sailing microcruiser designed by John Welsford.
